A SAFE MOVE, AT YOUR OWN PACE

Moving your browser data

Your files and saved work belong to you. A new website address opens a fresh browser storage space; it cannot automatically see what you saved at the old address.

Keep the old tool and browser profile until you have restored and verified your backup.

A Preview URL and a future Production URL may have separate data. These steps apply whenever the address, browser profile or device changes.

Moving to Production: the release address is AI & Automation. The previous Preview stays available. The new domain starts with separate browser storage: data does not move automatically. At the old QS address, download and verify a full backup, then open the Production QS Chair Wheel and restore it. Keep the original backup and verify the restored data before relying on the new address. Restore replaces data at the destination; back it up first if needed.

QS Chair Wheel: bring the whole history

  1. Open your old QS Chair Wheel in the same browser and profile you normally use. Go to Data & Backup.
  2. Choose Download Full Backup. A full JSON backup or a ZIP containing the full JSON backup works. A PNG result image or members CSV alone is not a complete backup.
  3. Use Verify a downloaded backup… in the old tool and select the file you just downloaded. Check that it says Backup verified. Keep this file somewhere you control.
  4. Open AI & Automation’s QS Chair Wheel at the new address. Go to Data & Backup → Restore Full Backup and select that file.
  5. Check the preview's member, history, rotation and image counts. If the destination already has data you need, download its full backup first. Restore replaces that destination's data.
  6. Choose Replace my data with this backup. Check the members, latest result and remaining rotation, then reload once to confirm they are still there.
  7. Use Verify a downloaded backup… at the new address too. Keep regular backups after you start drawing again.

During Preview: use the same branch Preview address each time. A new deployment-specific address may be a different browser origin. Do not delete your original backup; repeat the migration when an approved Production address becomes available.

Invoice Compare: keep a record before moving

The original Invoice Compare saves its session in localStorage on the old address. It does not have a full-session backup/restore feature. Use Copy as table to keep a record of your comparison, keep the source CSV/text files and invoice details, and enter or import them again at the new address. The copied comparison is a record, not a restorable project. The old session is left untouched.

BOQ, Manual Order Lines and PDF to Excel

These working sessions stay in memory. Download your results before closing or reloading, then select the source files again at the new address when needed. Your original files are not changed.

What stays on this device?

QS uses IndexedDB for members, draws, images, settings and audit history. Invoice Compare uses localStorage. Neither is an account or cloud sync service. Clearing website data, private browsing, reinstalling the browser or browser storage eviction can remove it. Persistent-storage permission helps when granted, but it does not replace a downloaded backup.

Full QS backups can contain names, history and images. Store them in a suitable private location. Importing into these five tools processes the file in your browser; there is no document-upload backend.

Joinery Item Finder

Joinery Item Finder continues at its existing address. It is linked from the Hub and has not been copied or redeployed.
